We are now accepting applications for the 2024/25 MATRIX-N Junior Scholars Program!
Four to six 2024/25 MATRIX-N Cluster Junior Scholars will be selected to work closely with the cluster coordinator, under the co-supervision of cluster faculty leads, to advance MATRIX-N cluster activities, while simultaneously conducting their thesis research.
Successful candidates will have a choice to assist with various cluster activities, including:
- science communication (social media, science illustration/data visualization, cluster newsletter, website)
- research collaborations (project management, grant writing, community outreach, patient-oriented research)
- drug development (regulatory issues, academic/industry partnerships)
- event organization (monthly rounds, conference workshops, multidisciplinary panels, with opportunities to showcase their own research)

Eligibility:
- MSc or PhD student under the supervision of UBC faculty member for the 24/25 academic year
- Conducts translational, foundational or clinical research related to novel therapeutic options in neuropsychiatry and innovative solutions to global challenges around mental health and substance use disorders.
- Member of underrepresented group(s) (in terms of race, age, ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, lived experience, etc.); Indigenous students strongly encouraged to apply.
- Able to commit to an 8-month part-time position (Sept 2024 - Apr 2025, 32 weeks, 5h/week).
Compensation: $5000 stipend for an 8-month part-time position (Sept 2024 - Apr 2025, 32 weeks, 5h/week), plus mentoring, professional development, and networking opportunities.
